Austin Northeast Rotary - Newsletter - Current (Oct 12, 2011)

Northeast Austin Rotary in partnership with Bookspring and SMARTBOX has set out a portable storage pod on the 2700^th block of Casis Blvd in the Casis Village Shopping Center (Tarrytown) across the street from Casis Elementary School.

Children’s books will be accepted at Casis Village until 10/24/2011. Anyone can donate and are encourage to stop by and recycle those Children’s books that have been lying around your home so that they can be redistributed to small children who would otherwise have none.

Smartbox of Texas has modified the door with a book slot for easy drops at any time of day or night. If you don’t have a book to donate please consider a monetary gift of $15 or more , which covers the cost for BookSpring’s Reach Out and Read to provide service to 1 child. Online donations can be accepted at www.bookspring.org.

Bookspring’s ReBook program distributes these donated books through Reach Out and Read medical clinics and with ReBook partners including non-profit partners like Rotary of Austin Northeast , children’s shelters, faith based organizations and libraries in economically disadvantaged areas.

Donation Guidelines:

• Gently used children’s books (infants up to and including teenagers/young adult fiction) with covers

and pages intact, clean and unmarked pages

• No textbooks

• No used coloring or activity books

• No books with themes such as death, religion, holidays, divorce or abuse
