Welcome to the website of the Rotary Club of Austin Northeast. Our club has about 25 members and is part of the worldwide family of Rotary International. Under the motto of "Service above Self", we provide our professional expertise, time and money to improve our local community, as well as communities worldwide.
Our Mission & Club Focus
Through the years, the Rotary Club of Austin Northeast has placed a strong emphasis on service to the youth in our community with projects donating books to elementary school libraries, providing scholarships for high school seniors, and sponsoring high school students to attend the Rotary District 5870 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp. In addition to our special interest in youth, other service projects and activities of our Rotary club include:
- Providing interesting and informative programs at our weekly meetings - utilizing speakers representing diverse interests in our local community
- Providing support to the less fortunate in our community by assisting with activities such as Meals on Wheels delivery, refurbishment of facilities providing shelter to women and children, and distributing toys and clothing at Christmas to children with need.
- Fundraising for scholarships and grants benefiting community partners such as Ridgetop Elementary, Reagan High School, Big Brothers Big Sisters, SafePlace and the ACC Adult Education program.
- Creating goodwill in the Northeast Austin community by supporting blood drives at Reagan High school, performing trash clean up along Ed Bluestein highway, and holding monthly board meetings at different restaurants in the Northeast Austin community.
This year's Rotary International theme is, "The Future of Rotary is in Your Hands". RI President, John Kenny, chose this theme to remind Rotarians that Rotary International’s strength is the service, fellowship, and leadership that Rotarians provide in our local communities. Taking this theme to heart, The Rotary Club of Austin Northeast is striving to ensure that our club is conducting activities that ensure that Rotary is relevant to our community partners and to our members.
I hope you will join us at one of our meetings held every Wednesday at 12:00 noon. We welcome you to join us and meet some of the best friends you could ever have. You can make a difference in your career, your community and build international goodwill and understanding through membership in Rotary.
Sincerely,
Hamp Levi President, 2009-2010 Rotary Club of Austin Northeast
